Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Professor 10 months in Art and Design.
The appointee will teach a three-course load of undergraduate and/or graduate courses per semester in Art Education, work with student teachers, and other core or foundational courses as assigned. The appointee also will engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity, advise students, participate in department, program, campus, and community service, as well as accreditation responsibilities (National Association of Schools of Art & Design and Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) and writing art education curriculum.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D./Ed.D. in Art Education or M.F.A. in related visual arts field; extensive full time K-12 art teaching experience or equivalent; college-level art education teaching experience; a commitment to the preparation of art teachers, and an ability to model quality teaching. We are seeking an individual with expertise in contemporary issues in art education, the education of adolescents and diverse populations, curriculum design, writing in the art classroom, and teacher research.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D./Ed.D. in Art Education, experience and expertise with art history and theory, curriculum design, working with student teachers, and an ability to teach courses addressing topics such as contemporary art criticism, new media and technologies, community arts and engagement, and teaching in urban settings.
