Killeen ISD is located in Central Texas about one hour north of Austin. We are a fast growing district with approximately 45,000 students K-12. The district has 32 elementary school (Pk-5), 11 middle schools (6-8), and five comprehensive high schools (9-12), the newest of which opens in August. The Fine Arts department is managed by the Director of Fine Arts, Asst. Director of Music, and Asst. Director of Theater/Visual Arts. Campus programs are well supported with dedicated and discipline specific classrooms and generous budgets for supplies and materials. Most campuses have multiple art teachers. There is an abundance of support for new teachers and the human resources department is skilled in assisting out of state certified teachers to obtain their credentials to teach in Killeen. We provide many opportunities also for professional development throughout the year and during the summer.
