The Assistant Professor of Arts Education will teach fully online, asynchronous, multidisciplinary arts education courses across three MA programs and one post graduate Advanced Certificate: MA in Art Education; MA in Educational Theatre, P-12; MA in Educational Theatre, Storytelling, and the Arts; and Advanced Certificate in Educational Theatre (2021 US News Best Online Programs). Candidate will be joining a program and faculty deeply committed to arts-based learning and arts-based research across disciplines, and to achieving excellence through cultural diversity, reflected in Adelphi's long history of commitment to arts as education for all learners. The duties of this position will be particularly focused on cultivating and establishing innovative school and community partnerships with cultural institutions, such as museums, performance spaces and school-based programs in the arts. This faculty position is subject to financial factors to be determined by the Board of Trustees at the March 2021 meeting.
Cultivate school and community partnerships in museums, performance spaces, and other cultural institutions across arts domains both nationally and internationally.
Teach multidisciplinary arts education classes asynchronously online including but not limited to museum education, creative growth and development in art and theatre, and arts-based research.
Supervise student teachers remotely in fully online graduate art education and educational theatre programs, including edTPA support in visual arts and performing arts.
Support New York, regional, and national accreditation efforts of online arts education programs and School of Education
Other assignments as needed.
Candidates should hold earned Ph.D./Ed.D. in museum education, art education, educational theatre, or other related arts educational field.
Have an active scholarly agenda in their area of interest as well as experience interacting with diverse populations or students of color in P-12 and collegiate settings.
Experience in asynchronous online educational teaching and online curriculum design in the arts is preferred.
Comfort level with appropriate technological skills, such as video creation, digital uploads and recordings, and videoconferencing required.
