Qualifications and Education The successful candidate must have at least three years of successful, full-time experience teaching visual arts in grades PK-12 in public, charter , and/or private school settings, active Wisconsin 550 license and 859 license or equivalent experience/expertise, and preferably, experience teaching in a college or university visual arts teacher licensure program. The successful candidate will have one of the following- preference by order in the following list: ? a MA, MEd, MFA in Art Education with licensure in Art Education (550) and Adaptive Education (859) ? a related MA, Med, or MFA with Wisconsin Licensure in Art Education (550) and Adaptive Education (859) ? a MA in Art Therapy with Wisconsin Licensure in Art Education (550) and documented experience working with students with special needs in an art education setting. ? a MA, MEd, or MS in Special Education with Wisconsin Licensure in Art Education (550) with documented experience working with students with special needs in an art education setting. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have or are enrolled in a PhD or EdD degree in Art Education or Education degree, or an MFA. The successful candidate must be committed to promoting diversity and social justice in the field of art education and in society. It is imperative that candidates approach teaching, learning, and assessment in a way that celebrates and facilitates global perspectives, diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice to develop art educators who are creative, socially conscious, effective citizens. It is important that candidates have an open, creative, and theoretical approach to designing curriculum that empowers students to be successful in their fields, student teaching placements, and in their professional experiences. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of pedagogical strategies that reach students across all contexts, art processes and technology, and a strong knowledge of emerging ideas in art education, education, and adaptive education. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion. |
