Assistant Professor in PK-12 Art Education

Job Description Summary: Join innovative faculty in the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University. We invite applications for a PK-12 art teacher educator at the rank of assistant professor. We seek an individual with expertise in art education and teacher education. Candidates are expected to have: 1) an earned doctorate degree in art education, teacher education, or a related field, with scholarly expertise in art and design education; 2) evidence of successful art teaching experience at the PK-12 level; and 3) a demonstrated record of potential for accomplishment in scholarship. Educators who have an art degree and an interest in practice-based teacher preparation and school-university partnerships are particularly encouraged to apply. We value candidates who can work collaboratively across disciplines, departments, and institutional boundaries and participate in sustained engagement with local PK-12 schools and arts-based organizations. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Responsibilities: teach undergraduate and graduate courses in art education; develop new courses to advance program delivery; work collaboratively to implement a practice-based teacher preparation program; advise post-baccalaureate art education students; serve as a liaison with the Department of Art and Art History; maintain active agenda of research and creative activity; collaborate to write grants; and engage in innovative program design. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate degree in art education, teacher education or a related field.
